Abstract
A new electron donor C 7TET-TTF of which the molecular structure is expressed by substituting one ethylenedithio moiety of BEDT-TTF with two heptylthio groups was synthesized (m.p.=12 °C) and revealed the same redox potentials as those of BEDT-TTF in CH 3CN. Some CT complexes with several acceptors were prepared not only from this “semicapped” new donor but also from uncapped known one (TTC 7-TTF) and they showed semiconductive properties. The monolayer formation at air-water interface was investigated on both series of compounds and the semicapped ones were superior to the uncapped ones judging from their π-A isotherms. C 7TET-TTF·F 4TCNQ (1:1) formed a stable monolayer at air-water interface and it could be transferred onto solid substrates. X-Ray diffractometry was performed on the LB film of this complex as well as its powdered sample and C 7TET-TTF·TCNQ (1:1) single crystals in order to estimate the molecular packing and stacking in the LB film. In addition, some cation radical salts of C 1TET-TTF, which gave organic metals, are also reported briefly.
