Abstract

Nanosized LiMnBO3 with enhanced capacity has been synthesized by a sol gel method. The effect of annealing atmosphere on its morphology and electrochemical properties has been investigated. Powder X-ray diffractometer (XRD) results reveal co-existence of hexagonal and monoclinic phases in both Argon (Ar) and Nitrogen (N2) annealed samples. SEM images indicate diverse morphology of elongated spherical shape in Ar annealed and tetragonal rod shaped particles in N2 annealed samples. The dual phased electrode material under Ar atmosphere exhibit excellent electrochemical performance and delivered a high discharge capacity of 208 mAhg1 and good reversibility. Enhanced capacity deliverance is attributed to mixed morphology and mixed phase formation in the present LiMnBO3 nanocrystallites.
