Abstract

Considering the earlier reports the present paper explores usefulness of Ni and Mn substituted cobalt ferrite to form the magnetostrictive phase of the magnetoeletric (ME) composites. Co0.9Ni0.1Fe2−xMnxO4 (CNFM) for x = 0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 and 0.4 are synthesize using hydroxide co‐precipitation route. The CNFM is studied for its electrical and magnetic properties. The observations shows that x = 0.3 is a useful composite possessing optimal values of resistivity (ρ), Saturation magnetization (Ms), remanent magnetization (Mr), coercive field (Hc) and initial permeability (μ). Further in the present paper Ba0.5Sr0.5Nb2O6 (BSN) is use to form the Piezoelectric phase of the ME composite. The ME composites yMNBS = yCNFM+(1−y) BSN are synthesized for y = 0.2 to 0.6 and investigated for its structural, dielectric and magnetoelectric properties.
