Abstract

The work was aimed at development of glasses for encapsulation of self-glowing crystals, doped with alpha radionuclides. Bismuth borosilicate-based glass systems doped with Eu3+, В2О3-ЅіO2-Аl2О3-Bi2O3-MO (where M = Ba, Sr and Zn) (Si–Bi -x), with various concentrations of activator were studied. The optimal synthesis conditions were selected, the composition of the obtained glasses was investigated using electron-probe microanalysis technique. Optical properties of glasses were investigated using the following methods – cathodoluminescence, photoluminescence and absorption. The range of the optimal activator concentration was determined.
