Abstract

A red phosphor, K2SiF6:Mn4+, was prepared by the hydrothermal method. The as-obtained K2SiF6 was confirmed as cubic phase. In K2SiF6:Mn4+ red phosphor, the strongest excitation peak lies in 350 nm and the strongest emission peak lies in 632 nm which is due to the 2Eg→4A2g transition. The optimum luminescence conditions were obtained by changing the Mn4+ doping concentration. Employing K2SiF6:Mn4+ with blue chip and commercial yellow phosphor fabricates a white-light LED. The asobtained white-light LED has low color temperature (3740 K), high color rendering index (86.4) and lumen efficiency of 166.02 lm/W, indicating that K2SiF6:Mn4+ can be used in warm white-light LED.
