Abstract

Monodisperse nanowires and arrays of YVO 4:Eu 3+ were synthesized by chemical precipitation method using anodic aluminum oxide template. Scanning electron microscope images indicated that YVO 4:Eu 3+ nanowires are parallelly arranged, all of which are in uniform diameter of about 50 nm. High-magnification transmission electron microscopy images showed that the nanowires are composed of a lot of agglutinating particles. X-ray diffraction patterns confirmed that YVO 4:Eu 3+ nanowires mainly consist of polycrystalline materials. Excitation and emission spectra of YVO 4:Eu 3+ composite films were measured. The characteristic red emission peak of Eu 3+ ion attributed to the 5D 0– 7F 2 transition in YVO 4:Eu 3+ nanowires broadened its half width.
