Abstract
New 5,6-benzo-2,2′-diquinolyl derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of quinolidene-β-naphthylamine with diacetyldiphenylmethane, diacetyldiphenyl oxide, and diacetyldiphenyl sulfide in the presence of catalytic amounts of concentrated HCl. The electronic absorption spectra of the synthesized compounds were studied, the conditions of the formation of the complexes with monovalent copper ions were determined, and a dependence between the structure and the color of the complexes was demonstrated.
