Abstract

1. The authors have developed methods for synthesizing adducts of rare-earth dibenzoylmethanates with tributyl phosphate, trioctyl phosphine oxide, and triphenyl phosphine oxide. 2. Using IR spectroscopy, thermogravimetry, and chemical analysis they have shown that the adducts are anhydrous. According to the IR spectra, the additional ligand is incorporated into the rare-earth coordination sphere. 3. Thermogravimetric and IR spectroscopic analysis has revealed that tributyl phosphate is most strongly combined in the adducts, and trioctyl phosphine oxide is least strongly combined. The decomposition temperature of the adducts increases in the rare-earth series from light to heavy lanthanides. Rapid heating of the adducts in vacuum or at atmospheric pressure leads to decomposition of rare-earthdibenzoylmethanates without sublimation. Only partial sublimation is observed when the adducts are slowly heated in vacuum.
