Synthesis and in Vitro Toxicity Assessment of Different Nano-Calcium Phosphate Nanoparticles

Abstract

HIGHLIGHTS Bioceramic nanoparticles are used to replace hard tissues. The toxicity of β-TCP and BCP nanoparticles is not dependent on particle size. BCP nanoparticles exhibit greater cytotoxic and genotoxic properties at higher concentrations as compared to β-TCP nanoparticles. β-TCP and BCP cause oxidative stress depending on the increase in concentration. Oxidative stress causes cell death and DNA damage.
