Abstract

Double wrapping: A new spiroborate-based double-stranded helicate was prepared from tetraphenol strands with a bipyridine unit in the middle and NaBH4. The X-ray single-crystallographic analysis revealed that the helicate adopts a double helical structure, in which the two Na cations with a very short distance of 3.1 Å (see figure), were held in the center of the complex.
