Abstract

Furoisoxazoles Ila-r, bicyclic isoxazoles, were designed and synthesized as potential new plant fungicides. The fungicidal activity of each appeared over a broad spectrum of plant pathogens. The preliminary structure–activity relationship for furoisoxazoles II suggests that the methyl and chlorophenyl groups at the 3- and 6-positions, respectively, are essential to their high fungicidal activity. In particular, isoxazoles IIb and lid showed 50% control of RCB and CGM, respectively, at 10 ppm.
