Abstract

A series of novel soluble conjugated copolymers derived from 9,9-dioctylfluorene (DOF) with thiophene (TOP), ethylenedioxythiophene (EDT) were synthesized via palladium-catalyzed Suzuki coupling reaction. The copolymers of DOF-co-EDT and DOF-co-TOP give rise to various emission colors from bluish-green to yellow. Highest electroluminescent (EL) quantum efficiencies of the devices based on the copolymers were 1.8% for DOF-co-EDT, 0.45% for DOF-co-TOP, respectively. Enhanced quantum efficiency for devices from these copolymers makes them a promising candidate for PLED displays.
