Abstract

We report on electrochemical properties of monoclinic TiNb2O7 nanoparticles synthesized by simple co-precipitation method. Cyclic voltammetry shows oxidation peak at 1.72 V and reduction peak at 1.51 V. TiNb2O7 nanoparticles deliver initial specific capacity of 186 mAh/g and 154 mAh/g after 500 cycles at a high current charge/discharge rate of 0.5C, retaining 84% of the initial capacity. The long cycle charge/discharge capacity of TiNb2O7 nanoparticles with 95% columbic efficiency shows that the prepared TiNb2O7 nanoparticles can be employed as a promising anode material for lithium ion batteries.
