Abstract

Monoclinic Li1+xV3O8 cathode materials were synthesized by sol-gel method. The structure, morphology and electrochemical performance of Li1+xV3O8 are characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electrochemical tests. Moreover, the effects of content of lithium on the physical and electrochemical properties of Li1+xV3O8 cathode materials are studied. The results show that the Li1.2V3O8 cathode material prepared by sol-gel method has good electrochemical properties, which has an initial discharge and charge specific capacities of 279.7 and 305 mAh g−1 at the current of 50 mA g−1 between 1.5 and 4.0 V, respectively, and a good cycle performance. In addition, the Li1.2V3O8 cathode material also has a good rate performance.
