Abstract

8-hydroxyquinolin-1-ium 4-aminobenzenesulfonate solution was synthesized via conventional chemical method. Different spectroscopies techniques utilized to characterize the new organic salt molecule. The spatial self-phase modulation technique was employed to obtain the nonlinear optical parameters of the new salt. The diffraction ring patterns used to deduce the nonlinear refractive index (10−6 cm2/W) n2 and thermo-optic coefficient [dn/dT]. Our results have indicated that the number of diffraction rings is related to the laser beam intensity. The all optical switching effect was realized as function to the laser beam frequency.
