Abstract
Reaction of cyclobutanone with methylhydroxylamine gives N-methylcyclobutylideneamine N-oxide ( 2), which spontaneously dimerizes. Cycloadditions of the in situ generated 4-membered exocyclic nitrone 2 with reactive dipolarophiles afford the corresponding cycloadducts.
