Abstract

The trinuclear copper(II) complex [Cu 3L 2(OAc) 2] (where L = 3,7-diaza-5,5-dimethyl-2,8-bis(2′-hydroxyphenyl)nonane was prepared and characterized by UV-Vis, IR and ESR spectral studies, elemental analysis and single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. The structure determination shows that the copper atoms are arranged in a linear fashion and the coordination geometry around each copper atom is square pyramidal. The Cu⋯Cu distances are 2.969(1) and 2.942(1) Å. The crystal is orthorhombic with space group Pbca, a = 18.478(2), b = 22.422(1), c = 27.008(10) A ̊ and Z = 8 . The structure was refined to final R f = 0.060 for 4641 reflections with I > 1.8 σ( I)
