Abstract

Eu 2+ and Mn 2+ co-doped calcium aluminate silicate chloride phosphors with the chemical composition of Ca 3Al 2Si 2O 8Cl 4:Eu 2+, Mn 2+ have been prepared by a solid-state method, and their luminescence properties have been investigated by tuning the En 2+/Mn 2+ ions concentration. The phase formation and microstructure of Ca 3Al 2Si 2O 8Cl 4:Eu 2+, Mn 2+ phosphors have been illuminated by XRD and SEM analysis. Photoluminescence (PL) spectrum reveals that Ca 3Al 2Si 2O 8Cl 4:Eu 2+ exhibits a strong blue emission band centered at 431 nm, while Ca 3Al 2Si 2O 8Cl 4:Eu 2+, Mn 2+ can emit bluish-white light by adjusting the Mn 2+ content appropriately. The energy transfer mechanism involving Eu 2+–Mn 2+ have also been investigated.
