Abstract

One-dimensional nanostructures of ZnO has various applications in optoelectronics, solar cell, photocatalyst, electromechanical nanodevices. The ZnO nanowires have large surface area, good electron transport properties, and biosafety approach. In this work, we report the simple, inexpensive and low-temperature approach for the synthesis of ZnO nanorod array. The ZnO nanorod array (ZnO NRA) was grown on Fluorinated Tin Oxide (FTO) glass. The seed layer deposited by spin coating and ZnO NRA growth was carried out with the hydrothermal route in aqueous media. The obtained ZnO sample was characterized by different techniques such as field emission scanning electron microscopy, EDAX, and UV-Visible spectroscopy. It confirms that ZnO nanorod array structure is grown on FTO glass substrate. The ZnO nanorods were obtained with the diameter in the range of 120-180 nm. The synthesized ZnO nanorods can be used as photocatalyst and solar cell application.
