Abstract
YVO4:Eu nanophosphor has been synthesized by the sol–gel method. Samples were characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), energy-dispersive x-ray spectroscopy, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis) spectroscopy, photoluminescence, and Raman spectroscopy. The XRD profile confirms the tetragonal phase of the Eu3+-doped YVO4 nanophosphor. The efficiency of the prepared phosphor was analyzed by means of its emission spectral profile. We also observed rich red emission from the prepared phosphor on excitation by an ultraviolet source. The calculated Commission International de l’Eclairage coordinates reveal excellent color purity efficiency. Such luminescent powder is useful as red phosphor in display device applications.
