Abstract

The new titanium complex Cp*TiMe 2(dpa) ( 1) (Cp* = η 5-C 5Me 5; dpa = di(2-pyridyl)amide) has been synthesized by reaction of Cp*TiMe 3 with Hdpa. Reaction of Cp*TiCl 3 or Cp*TaCl 4 with Lidpa renders Cp*TiCl 2(dpa) ( 2) or Cp*TaCl 3(dpa) ( 3), respectively. On the other hand, Ti(NMe 2) 4 reacts with Hdpa to yield Ti(NMe 2) 2(dpa) 2 ( 4). The molecular structures of 3 and 4 have been established by X-ray diffraction methods.
