Abstract

Nano-sized spherical MgB 2 powders were prepared by spray pyrolysis, starting from an aqueous solution which contains Mg and B ions. The influence of solution concentration, furnace temperature and mass flow of carrier gas on microstructure and average particle size were investigated. The powders were synthesized without further heat treatment. For adequate preparation conditions, it has mostly spherical, solid and narrow particle size distribution. Average particle size ( X 50) distribution was between 100 and 400 nm.
