Synthesis and Characterization of Some Novel Mixed-Ligand Cyanonitrosyl {Mo(NO)2}6Complexes of Molybdenum with Some Simple and Biologically Active Organic Donors

Abstract Novel mixed-ligand hexa-coordinated cyanonitrosyl {Mo(NO)2}6 complexes of molybdenum in the zero oxidation state of the compositions [Mo(NO)2 (CN)2(L)2].2H2O (where L- 2-(4-chlorobenzyl)-pyridlne, chloropheniramine maleate, pheniraraine maleate, 2-ethoxycarbonylaminopyridine and [Mo(NO)2(CN)2(L-L)] 2H2O (where L-L = 2-aminopyridine, mepyramine maleate, cinchonine monohydro-chloride dihydrate)were prepared by the interaction of tetracyano-dinitrosylmolybdate(o) anion, [Mo(NO)2(CN)4]2-, with the appropriate organic donor L or L-L. The compounds have been characterized by elemental analyses, molar conductances, magnetic measurements and infra-red spectral studies.
