Abstract

Sodium DiacetylMonoxime Xanthate (SDAMX) is a dark yellow crystalline solid material synthesized by the reaction of DiacetylMonoxime (DAM) and carbon disulphide in the presence of a base under ice cold condition since reaction is exothermic. The SDAMX was characterized by UV-Vis, FT-IR and Raman Spectroscopy. The SDAMX is fluorescent in nature. The UV-Vis and Fluorescent Spectroscopy of SDAMX are recorded at various pHs (pH=1-10). The potentiometric application was carried out for Hg(II) ion, using different pHs (pH=1-10). The photocatalytic activity work was also being carried out on Methylene blue (MB) in the presence of SDAMX which is a good photocatalytic reagent.
