Abstract

In this study, colloidal silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) were synthesized in situ using Bombyx mori silk sericin. The synthesized nanoparticles were analyzed using UV-Visible spectroscopy (UV-Vis), the absorption spectra showed peak at λ=413 nm. Fluorescence spectroscopy (FL) study, the morphological study was carried out using fluorescence spectrophotometer and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The size and shape of the silver nanoparticles were analyzed using high resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM). The obtained results indicated the silk sericin as a bio template for the reduction of silver ions to silver neutral atoms.
