Abstract

We present a simple method of oriented prolate silver nanospheroid synthesis in silicate glasses. The appearance of silver nanospheroids in glass is confirmed by the shape of plasmon resonance absorption band in optical density spectrum, by TEM-images, and by calculation. Experiments have shown that nanocomposite with oriented silver spheroids possesses optical anisotropy, including dichroism and polarization-dependent transmission of light.
