Abstract

The novel cationic trinuclear alkoxide copper(I) complexes of the type [Cu 3( μ 3−OR)( μ 3- t-Cl)( μ-dppm) 3] [BF 4] (R = 2,4,6- tBu 3C 6H 2, 2,6- tBu 2C 6H 3, 2,6- tBu 2- p-MeC 6H 2, p-MeC 6H 4) and [Cu 3( μ 3-XR) 2( μ-dppm) 3][BF 4] (R = p-MeC 6H 4; X = O, S) have been obtained by reaction of [Cu 3( μ 3-Cl) 2( μ-dppm) 3][BF 4] with the sodium derivative of the corresponding alcohol or thiol. A high yield method for the synthesis of the trinuclear copper(I) precursor complex, based on the reaction of [Cu 2(μ-t-AcO)(μ-dppm) 2][BF 4] and Me 3SiCl, is also described. IR, 1H and 31P { 1H} NMR data are discussed.
