Abstract
The phenomenon of peri interaction of 1,8‐disubstituted naphthalene has been utilized to construct small molecules with internal twist resulting in helical isomers. A series of new naphthalene‐attached coumarins have been synthesized and characterized. The helical conformational twist in thiophene–coumarin capped naphthalene was established by H‐NMR and single crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis.
