Abstract

Abstract A new compound with the formula VFeSbO 6 has been synthesized by conventional method of calcining mixtures of appropriate oxides as well as mixtures FeVO 4 /α-Sb 2 O 4 and SbVO 5 /Fe 2 O 3 . This compound has been characterized by using the XRD, DTA, IR and SEM/EDX methods. The results of investigations have indicated that VFeSbO 6 melts incongruently at ∼1280 °C and crystallizes in the tetragonal system with the rutile-type structure. The structure of VFeSbO 6 is built by FeO 6 , VO 6 and SbO 6 octahedra. The unit cell parameters have been calculated. The VFeSbO 6 is a new promising component of catalysts for selective oxidation and ammoxidation reactions.
