Abstract

Abstract A calamitic non-symmetric liquid crystalline dimers consists of azo benzene containing azobenzene moiety was synthesized and analyzed. Nine distinguishable alkoxy moieties differ within a count of carbon-based particles and therefore methylene components seven and eight were produced and characterized via spectrometric techniques. All the produced particles displayed enantiotropic fluid quartz stage by overall dimers showing nematic phase whereas the higher homologues showed nematic and smectic phases. The conversion temperature and stage behavior was calculated by Differential Scanning Calorimeter and Polarizing Optic Microscope.
