Abstract

In recent years, preparation of gold nanoparticles (Au NPs) has been intensively pursued because of their peculiar properties. Be it in catalysis, optics, electronics, and sensing are found daily for these materials; therefore, in the present study, an attempt is made to synthesize Au NPs by using environmental friendly glucose as reducing agent through the simple microwave method. Besides, the effects of glucose concentrations on the morphology and particle size of final products were investigated. The structural, morphological, and optical properties of as-obtained products were characterized by techniques such as XRD, SEM, EDX, and UV–Vis spectroscopy. In addition, according to the vibrating sample magnetometer result, Au NPs indicated a ferromagnetic behavior at room temperature.
