Abstract

Copolymers of glycidyl methacrylate (GMA) and styrene were prepared in the presence of 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile in chlorobenzene. The polymers were characterized by infra-red and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy. The percentage of GMA present in the copolymers was established by elemental analysis. The copolymerization reactivity ratios were calculated using the Kelen—Tudos method. Molecular weights, glass transition temperatures and thermal properties were determined by gel permeation chromatography, differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis, respectively.
