Abstract

Ligand substitution reaction of the fullerophosphine PPh2(o-C6H4)(CH2NMeCH)C60 (1) with AuCl(SC4H8) affords AuCl(PPh2(o-C6H4)(CH2NMeCH)C60) (2) in good yields. In the presence of AgPF6, compound 2 reacts with 1 to produce [Au(PPh2(o-C6H4)(CH2NMeCH)C60)2]PF6 (3), where the Au(I) ion is coordinated by two molecules of 1 in a dumbbell-shaped feature. On the other hand, compound 1 undergoes a nucleophilic addition to (AuCCPh)n to generate Au(CCPh)(PPh2(o-C6H4)(CH2NMeCH)C60) (4). The structures of 2–4 have been determined by an X-ray diffraction study.
