Abstract

The utilization of polymer composites for different applications like car, aviation, guard, marine and other industry is turning out to be exceptionally favorable attributable to their lighter weight, higher quality and strength. The the present work was to assess the impact of the filler additions on properties of polymer matrix composites based on the epoxy resin, reinforced with glass fiber and milled carbon as the reinforcement. Hybrid polymer matrix composites were fabricated by hand lay-up method. Percentage of milled carbon in the epoxy matrix was varied from 0 -3 weight% in steps of 1 weight% and with the addition of 2 layers of woven glass fiber mat were used for the fabrication of hybrid composites. The fabricated polymer matrix hybrid composites were than subjected to microstructural study, impact strength test, tensile strength test, flexural strength test. Developed composites shows inproved properties.
