Abstract

The role of sterically demanding aryloxide ligands in efforts to prepare terminal-sulfide derivatives of compounds of the form (η5-C5H5)‘Ti(OR)Cl2 are investigated. The LiCl adducts of the terminal-sulfide complexes (η5-C5Me5)Ti(OR)(S)·LiCl·(2,2‘-bipy) 8 and 9 are isolated. The compound (η5-C5Me5)Ti(OR)(S)(THF) 10 proved to be illusive as a result of its propensity for dimerization.
