Abstract

Macroporous and gel-type anion exchange resins were synthesized in a suspension copolymerization of 2-vinylpyridine with divinylbenzene in the presence of methyl ethyl ketone and n-heptane as diluents. The effects of diluents and crosslinking degree on the properties of these matrices were studied. It was found that 60% of heptane in the diluent mixture always leads to macroporous resins whatever the crosslinking degree. The resins were evaluated in terms of structure porosity, specific area and ion exchange capacity.
