Abstract

AbstractCopolyamides with rigid and flexible chain segments were prepared using the reaction between diacids and diisocyanates. Segmented copolymers of these copolyamides are formed directly and spontaneously. UV‐ and NMR‐spectroscopy exclude the formation of homopolyamides only. The copolyamides with a content of rigid chain units between 20% nd 40% show thermotropic liquid crystalline behavior. Polarization microscopy and X‐ray diffraction investigations indicate the presence of nematic phase.
