Abstract
The synthesis and structural characterization of two novel compounds, 4-(3-ethoxy-4-hydroxybenzylideneamino)-3-methyl-5-mercapto-s-triazole and 3-ethyl-4-(3-ethoxy-4-hydroxybenzylideneamino)-5-mercapto-s-triazole and their Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) complexes in 1:1 and 1:2 molar ratio have been described with the help of different techniques like IR, 1 H-NMR, magnetic moment, electronic spectra, thermal and XRD studies. The Schiff bases are coordinated to metal ion through S and N. Octahedral geometry has been proposed around Co(II), Ni(II) and Zn(II) metal ions and in case of Cu(II) the square planar geometry is expected.
