Synthesis and characterization of C 60{lcub;CCl 4}rcub; 10

Abstract

A new type of CCl 4-solvated-C 60 compound has been synthesized in single crystal form which is stable at room temperature and below only when in contact with the C 60 saturated CCl 4 solution. From differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) measurements we conclude that the crystal contains (10±2) CCl 4 molecules per C 60. The crystal structure is face-centered-cubic (f.c.c.) with a lattice parameter of 27.39 Å at room temperature.
