Abstract

The novel nanoparticles i.e., bisacodyl (BSL) drug loaded chitosan nanoparticles (BSL@CS NPs) have been synthesized by using the ionotropic gelation method. The obtained nanoparticles were then characterized using different characterization techniques (FTIR, PXRD, SEM and TEM), which showed presence of spherical shaped BSL@CS NPs. Further, the interaction between bovine serum albumin (BSA) and BSL@CS NPs (BSA-BSL@CS NPs system) have been evaluated through multispectroscopic (fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy, UV spectroscopy and CD spectroscopy) techniques. The spectroscopic results indicated presence of static quenching mechanism and induced conformational changes (increase in hydrophobicity) in BSA. The secondary structural content changes (decrease in α-helical content), but preserving of major α-helical content was also suggested from CD spectra of the BSA-BSL@CS NPs system.
