Abstract
Four new organolanthanide acetoximato complexes [Cp 2Ln( μ, η 2-ONCMe 2)] 2 [Cp C 5H 5; Ln Pr, Gd, Dy and Yb] have been synthesized by the reaction of Cp 3Ln with equimolar acetoxime in THF at room temperature. They have been fully characterized by elemental analysis, IR and MS spectra, indicating that they are oxygen-bridging dimers. The crystal structure of the Gd complex revealed that the NO fragment of the oximato ligand acts as both a bridging and a side-on donating group in the title complexes. The average GdC(Cp) and GdN distances are 2.68(2) and 2.42(1) Å, respectively. Two independent GdO distances in each oxygen bridge are 2.25(1), 2.29(1) Å and 2.38(1), 2.37(1) Å. The Pr complex is thermally unstable and tends to decompose into a mixture of Cp 3Pr and Pr(ONCMe 2) 3.
