Abstract

9,9-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)xanthene(BHPX) was synthesized with good yield from xanthenone in one-pot,two-step synthetic procedure.A novel cardo poly(ether ether ketone ketone)(PEEKK-X) containing xanthene structure was successfully prepared via a typical nucleophilic aromatic substitution polycondensation of BHPX and 1,3-bis(4-fluorobenzoyl)benzene with the use of sulfolane as solvent. The polymer was characterized by FTIR,DSC,TGA and WAXD,etc. The results showed that the polymer had excellent heat-resistance,the glass transition temperature(T_g) was 215℃.The onset temperature taken at 5% weight loss of the polymer in nitrogen was 558℃.The polymer was noncrystalline and was soluble in common organic solvents such as DMF,DMAc,NMP and CHCl_3 at room temperature. The polymer formed transparent, strong and flexible films with tensile strength of 81.5 MPa,Young's moduli of 2.48 GPa and elongation at break of 16.8%.
