Abstract

A new resorc[4]arene ligand with four bis(pyridylmethylamine) coordinating moieties (bpa-res) is described. The tetranuclear copper(II) complex of bpa-res shows that the bpa-res ligand serves as a template to assemble four copper atoms in close proximity to each other. The complex possesses four structurally unique copper(II) ions in the solid state, two of which form a discrete binuclear complex within the tetranuclear complex.
