Abstract

Abstract A new family of binuclear nickel(II) complexes with a terephthaloyl or isophthaloyl bridge have been prepared by the electrophilic substitution reaction of (11,13-dimethyl-1,4,7,10-tetraaza-10,12-cyclotridecadienato)nickel(II) (Ni(Me2[13]dienatoN4)]+) or (12,14-dimethyl-1,4,8,11-tetraaza-11,13-cyclotetradecadienato)nickel(II) ([Ni(Me2[14]dienatoN4)]+) containing a nucleophilic center at the γ-carbon and terephthaloyl chloride or isophthaloyl chloride. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, infrared spectra, 1H NMR spectra, electronic spectra, and conductivity measurements.
