Abstract

An equilibrium is established between CpFe(CO)2CN and Cu(CH3CN)4+ in acetonitrile and adduct formation between the cyanide ligand and copper(I), whereas, complete complexation is observed in methylene chloride. Derivatization of the adduct in methylene chloride with PCy3 led to the isolation of the [CpFe(CO)2(μ-CN)Cu(PCy3)2][BF4] salt, which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography.
