Abstract

A new macrocyclic 30-metallacrown-10, [Mn10(cpshz)10(CH3OH)10]·2CH2Cl2·10CH3OH, has been prepared by supramolecular self-assembly using N-cyclopentane-carboxyl salicylhydrazide (H3cpshz) as the pentadentate ligands. Ten ligands chelate ten manganese(III) ions through the diaza bridging groups into a 30-membered [Mn–N–N]10 cyclic structure. The Mn(III) centers in the decanuclear ring exhibit alternating Λ and Δ configurations. The temperature-dependent magnetic behavior indicated that there are weakly antiferromagnetic couplings between the paramagnetic centers.
