Abstract
AbstractThe production of magnesium oxide (MgO) nanowires on Ag‐coated substrates was demonstrated by the thermal evaporation of MgB2 powders. Scanning electron microscopy revealed that the product consisted of nanowires with average diameter in the range 80–120 nm. X‐ray diffraction and high‐resolution electron microscopy coincidentally indicated that the nanowires were of a single‐crystalline cubic structure of MgO. Photoluminescence measurement with a Gaussian fitting exhibited visible light emission bands centered at 431 and 506 nm. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
