Abstract
Abstract Cobalt(II) and nickel(II) complexes with 2-methyl-cyclohexanone thiosemicarbazone as ligand have been synthesised. The cobalt complexes have the general composition, Co(ligand)2X2 (X = Cl−, Br−, I−, NO-3, NCS− and ½ SO4 2 −). The protonated ligand forms a complex of the formula Co(ligand-H)2. The nickel complexes have the general formula Ni(ligand)2X2.nH2O (X = Cl−, Br−, I−, NO-3, NC3- and ½ SO2 − 4, n = 0–3). The complexes have been characterized by elemental analysis, conductivity and magnetic measurements, infrared and electronic spectral studies. All the complexes are of high spin nature except Ni(ligand)2(NO3)2 and Ni(ligand)2SO4.
