Abstract
The preparation and characterisation of a diphosphaalkene, (Me 3Si)P C(OSiMe 3){C(C 2H 4) 3C}C(OSiMe 3) P(SiMe 3), and the second example of a diphosphaalkyne, P C{C(C 2H 4) 3C}C P, are described. In addition, the reaction of another diphosphaalkyne, P C{C(C 6H 4) 3C}C P, with MeLi/LiBr in the presence of tmeda has given the first diphosphavinyl lithium complex, [MeP C{Li 2Br(tmeda) 2}{C(C 6H 4) 3C}C{Li 2Br(tmeda) 2} PMe], which is stable at room temperature and has been crystallographically characterised.
