in which acyclic pyrazoles extract only the transi-tion metal cationswhen the macrocyclic pyrazolic com-pounds are expected to form stable complexes both withtransition and alkali metals, we demonstrate also here anaffinity of these new acyclic tripods only with the transitionmetal cations, with no complexation being observed towardalkali cations.The affinity of these hosts is especially high for mercury.This is not surprising if the high donor properties of nitrogentowards this metal are considered.
